Though COVID has been a part of our lives for 2 years now, the supply chain is still struggling to catch up. While we’ve got new RVs on the way and a few in stock, we have a huge selection of used campers that need homes too. Buying a used camper may not be something you’ve thought about, but there are many benefits to consider.

Used RVs are a great option for those new to camping. You can find lots of options and styles at various price points.

First, used campers are less expensive. This may be the #1 reason to consider a used camper versus a new one.

Next, because used campers are less expensive, you can spend money making them your own! Like a home fixer-upper, a used RV can be a blank slate for your own RV design ideas. With a brand-new RV you’re much less likely change out the fabrics or paint the cabinets.

Finally, if you’ve been on the fence about RVing then a used camper can often be a better option. By not buying new you aren’t making quite as big a commitment.

Downsides to a used camper

Like buying a pre-existing home, used campers will have their faults. You may have to replace some wiring or buy a new battery.  You might even have to leave your RV with us for some more extensive service and maintenance. The great thing, though, is that you’ve saved money by buying used. Hopefully this means you’ve got a little extra cash to make those repairs.

As with any RV that has been sitting unused for a while, you may notice a stale odor when you first tour your RV. Even once you’ve owned an RV for years, stepping into one for the first time after a long winter’s nap can be a wake up call for your nose. When you get your used RV home be sure to air it out well. Give it a thorough cleaning and, if you want, rip out any old carpet or fabrics that might be holding odors.
