If you Google “RV Bucket List” you’ll find plenty of ideas from folks. Some include festivals like the Albuquerque Balloon Festival while others suggest scenic trips along the Oregon coast (stay tuned for our post on that later in January). We decided to work on our own list this year. These are places we, as Western Coloradans, want to visit. They’re places that won’t take weeks to get to from Grand Junction, Colorado and that might also be places you’d like to go.
First on our list is Rocky Mountain National Park. Having lived in Colorado for 16 years and not been to RMNP is a bit shameful, we think. To see the mountains rising behind Sprague Lake or hike into the wild interior of the park is definitely at the top of our RV bucket list this year.
Next, and still relatively close, is Sun Valley, Idaho. As golfers and mountain bikers, Sun Valley is appealing to us. With miles of trails for biking and family-friendly golf courses Sun Valley seems like a perfect place to go. The scenic mountain views and fields of wildflowers don’t hurt either!
Third, but no less important, is St. George, Utah. This may seem like an odd choice, but St. George offers a lot of fun for outdoorsy folks. It’s close to Zion National Park for amazing hikes and red rock views, plus it has a plethora of mountain biking trails at nearby areas in Springdale and at Gooseberry Mesa. There are rail trails for paved biking and golf courses too. For those who like a little risk with their adventure, Mesquite, NV is less than an hour away! Combine the two for a warm trip in February when the temperatures here are below freezing!
